Our Work In the Field
Invasive Plant Removal with Mr. E
Since a big part of our DPC environmental goal is to remove invasive plants, we decided we needed to get our hands dirty and do some removal. With Mr. E's help we were able to clear a large corner of the park. The first step was to practice identifying the invasive plants. In that area we noticed Wineberry, Garlic Mustard, and Lady's Thumb. We used tools like shovels, loopers, and gloves. With the gloves, we pulled out plants that weren’t supposed to be there and left them on the ground to decompose into new soil. Also with the shovels we uprooted the plants so they could not regrow.
